We then edited the new shots in and made sure the existing shots cut to the beat. I think we edited our video quite well as we cut to the beat consistently and the video flowed into a type of story with performance in between. I think a strength of our editing was using jump cuts in the music video, we used them creatively and consistently. Monday, 4 January 2016
Reflection : Week Twelve
This week we finished most of our filming and also edited the new shots in and refined the existing shots. We plan to take our ancillary product pictures in the Christmas break.
The shots we had left to film were the ones in the station and on the train. We did this on the weekend and the shoot was successful. We were able to shoot everything we needed, however it was difficult to find our concept of seeing faces in everyday objects around the area we were in. So we had to improvise and make faces out of partial things that were there; for example, by using two bottle lids and an underground sign, we made a smiley face. The other shots we filmed were of Naveed, our artist, signing around the streets and also some shots of Simran and Naveed on the train. We anticipated filming on the train to be difficult as we thought there was going to be a lot of people on the train, but as we went on the DLR Line, it was fairly empty and easy to film and get the shots that we wanted.
We then edited the new shots in and made sure the existing shots cut to the beat. I think we edited our video quite well as we cut to the beat consistently and the video flowed into a type of story with performance in between. The concept we focused on this week was Audience. As we were editing, we wanted to make sure that the cuts and images we used were interesting for the audience to watch. It was important to edit so that we would grab their attention and want them to carry on following the story.
