After our teacher looked at our final music video, we decided to refilm some shots of Naveed singing as they looked a bit rehearsed. We did these at the start of the week so we were able to edit the music video and export it to YouTube. We re-filmed shots and made him sing to the camera in the park, instead of on the road. I think these were more natural as he wasn't holding the phone, which made it look like he was listening to the song.
The rest of the week, we focused on finishing the digipak and magazine advert. For both of the products we already had the text and layout done, we just needed to take the pictures and add them. We took the pictures in the same week and edited them into the digipak and magazine advert on Fireworks. When we first edited the magazine advert onto Fireworks, our original idea of having a forest in the background didn't look that good, as it looked like we just placed two images onto each other. We later changed this and made it look like the guitar was balancing on a type of wall, as we changed the blank white space into a textured cream colour. We also added the leaves from our digipak to keep continuity between the two products. On the digipak, originally we planned to have Naveed on the front cover, but we then changed that and put him on one of the inside panels. The front cover is now a picture of different colour leaves that we took on a day we went to Hainault Forest. We thought that this would be a better front cover as the indie genre don't always have the artist on the front cover as they want to signify their 'underground'-ness.
After all the changes we made, I do think our end ancillary products came out well, both of them had a been changed from the original ideas but it was better to have a good product at the end, then follow the plan exactly that we had at the start.
The main concepts we focused on this week were; Audience, Genre and Representation. While making the digipak and magazine advert we had to make sure that our audience would like the products and it would look like something they would buy. We also had to include the genre conventions of a digipak and magazine advert. As we had an Indie artist, we had to make sure that his representation was of the Indie genre. This is one of the main reasons that we decided to have him on the inside panels instead of the front and also why we didn't put him on the magazine advert.
